Product Overview
As popular as basil is in Italian cooking, one would guess that basil originated in that area. It did not. Some sources say it came from India, while other sources say Africa, but either way, it had to travel thousands of miles to get to Italy, where it became a precious herb. In fact, in ancient Greece, it is said to have been revered so highly, that it was only allowed to be harvested with gold and silver tools. Grown and processed in Freedom, ME using organic practices, our basil may not have been harvested with gold or silver, but it was treated as a precious commodity in order to provide you with the best product.
